Nirvana’s final studio album In Utero is turning 30 years old, and Geffen/UMe is commemorating the the anniversary with several multi-format reissues, which includes a total of 72 tracks with 53 previously unreleased tracks.
Among the unreleased material are two full In Utero-era concerts, and a couple of tracks from those live shows are now available for streaming.
“Pennyroyal Tea” was recorded at the Great Western Forum on December 30, 1993, in Los Angeles; and “Scentless Apprentice” comes off the band’s last ever Seattle performance on January 7, 1994 at the Seattle Center Arena. Check them out below.
In a recent interview Nirvana's bassist Krist Novoselic talked about the live recordings for the anniversary release: "The shows rock. They need to be heard. Now with the AI, you can take a stereo mix and then break it down into a multitrack. So you can get really good mixes. They sound raw. And you get Kurt up there who's just carrying the show. Amazing."
