Ibaraki, the new band featuring Matt Heafy of Trivium and Ihsahn, is now streaming their new single "Rōnin" featuring My Chemical Romance vocalist Gerard Way doing some seriously crushing black metal screams. This might also be the only time those three people will be mentioned in the same sentence. As for the single, it certainly serves as proof that Way really ought to make more appearances in metal songs. Dude does a great job and this single rips.
"Gerard Way has been a long-time inspiration for me — like Ihsahn and Nergal — I have looked to Gerard as a constant source of motivation to be creative. While Gerard and I may be from different genres than where Ibaraki and black metal stem from — outsiders of sorts — the spirit and intent of our performances is what unites our passion for pushing boundaries."
Ibaraki will release Rashomon on May 6. Pre-orders are available here.
