The first thing you'll think when you hear this cover of "Race With The Devil" from my favorite rock band on the planet, Tower, will be "No fucking way she's actually pulling that off!" It's a reasonable assumption to make – the vocal intro to the track is crazy. What's crazier still is that frontwoman Sarabeth Linden is in fact that good.
By the time you dig into the track for Tower's unique brand of thrashed up rock and roll madness, replete with wild howls, guitarmonies and great tone you start to realize that maybe these guys are slowly creeping towards the top for a reason. While this cover does not unfortunately herald an upcoming album it DOES preface the bands next tour, a 22 day North American trek which should hopefully bring these road dogs to a dirty rock and roll club near you.
The bands bombastic frontwoman – Sarabeth Linden had this to say:
Here's a little gift for Halloween to tide everyone over until the next record. 'Race With the Devil' is a classic song from the '60s that's been covered by Judas Priest and Girlschool, among others. We liked jamming it and recorded our own version for fun over the summer. Just afterwards we were able to welcome the newest member of Tower, James Esposito on the drums! Catch us on our first trip to the west coast this fall and stay tuned for more new stuff from us!
Jam the song now:
