Painted Doll is the new project of Autopsy's Chris Reifert and comedian Dave Hill, though the project is neither death metal nor hilarious. Instead, Painted Doll explores the psychedelic sounds of the 1960s and 1970s, which both Hill and Reifert have professed their love for. We're psyched to stream the duo's new song "Dressing Room" today, which features quite a lot of clean riffing that still has a serious retro rock bite to it. Think of this as more in the vein of Blue Oyster Cult and less like the cosmic leanings of Black Sabbath.
Here's what Hill had to say about the track.
"Chris cooked this one up in his bunker. It’s one my favorite songs on the album and I love playing and singing it too. It’s like a ride on space ship in the middle of the night while being chased by alien Vikings who don’t know they’re already dead."
And here's what Reifert had to say.
"This one is a cosmic rocker about peeling back the fabric of reality and slipping behind it into the twilight zone, only to re-emerge as a newly minted earthling with endless roads to explore inside and outside of the mind. Ya dig?"
Painted Doll's debut album is out February 16 and you can pre-order it here.
