Stöner, the group featuring desert rock alumni from Kyuss and Queens of the Stone Age, have released a new single—a cover of the song "City Kids," performed by both the Pink Fairies as well as Motörhead. You can check the video out below.
Stöner will release an EP, Boogie to Baja, on Heavy Psych Records on February 24, which also released Stöner guitarist/vocalist Brant Bjork's most recent LP, Bougainvillea Suite. Bjork is joined in Stöner by his old buddy Nick Oliveri (Kyuss, QOTSA) on bass and vocals, while drummer Ryan Güt rounds out the trio. Fans of that ol' reliable chugga-chugga guitar pattern will be ecstatic with "City Kids," while the hippie pop vocals will undoubtedly pull in even the most moderate of Queens fans.
About the EP, the band said in a statement that, "… we were having a blast and the music just kept rollin’ out, so we decided to also put together a tasty EP. Guests Mario Lalli on "Stöner Theme" and Greg Hetson of Circle Jerks and Bad Religion on our version of the Motörhead/Pink Fairies classic "City Kids" makes this EP extra sweet. Jump in and let’s Boogie To Baja!”
Pre-orders for Boogie To Baja are available here. Recording sessions for the EP were helmed once again by previous Stöner collaborator, producer Yosef Sanborn.
