The Red Chord has popped back into my rotation in recent days, an all-time favorite who I haven't really listened to much lately. So it's very excited to see three of the members working with dudes who are very Red Chord-adjacent in the new project, Umbra Vitae. The band features vocalist Jacob Bannon (Converge, Wear Your Wounds), guitarists Sean Martin (Twitching Tongues, ex-Hatebreed) and Mike McKenzie (The Red Chord, Stomach Earth), bassist Greg Weeks (The Red Chord), and drummer Jon Rice (ex-Job for a Cowboy, Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats).
A few weeks back, we heard their first song, "Return To Zero" and today, we hear their second, with “Mantra of Madness.” It's more death metal excellence, and I think better than the first single. I'm glad to hear this type of music again!
“Mantra of Madness” appears on the band's full length album, Shadow of Life, which is out digitally May 1 via Deathwish Inc. You can pre-order it here.
