Will Haven's new album Muerte is coming out on March 23 and from what we've heard thus far, it's awesome. We've been given the new song "Winds of Change" to premiere today, which is great because we can't stop listening to it. The song employs 7/8 as its time signature for a good potion and switches erratically between droning heaviness and chaotic madness. Which is great, because those are kind of the reasons we're listening to Will Haven.
Here's what guitarist Jeff Irwin says about "Winds of Change."
"This is probably my favorite song on the record. It was written somewhat early on and went through a lot of changes before we were ultimately happy with it. I envisioned something chaotic – that stress you might feel when you are about to die, and then I wanted the ending to be epic like you were floating away. So, capturing that emotion took some time but I think we did it. It was a lot of fun to make… this was a breakthrough song for us, as far as what we can possibly do with our music."
Muerte features Yob vocalist Mike Scheidt and Deftones guitarist Stephen Carpenter on two of its tracks, and you can pre-order the album below.
