A 27-year-old man was found dead on the festival campgrounds at Bonnaroo yesterday, according to a report from The Manchester Times. A medical team was promptly called over and when they found him, he was breathing but not responsive.
“Earlier today, our medical team in Plaza 11 was asked to respond to a medical situation in a nearby campsite,” Ewing said. “The Bonnaroo Medical team and Coffee County Emergency Services were on the scene within minutes. A 27-year-old male patron camping with his father was unresponsive. The medical team administered CPR, and he was transported to the hospital.”
While the cause of death has not been revealed, the man who passed away did have "an underlying medical condition" according to the report.
“The well-being of our patrons, staff, volunteers and artists is our primary concern,” Ewing told The Manchester Times. “We work diligently to ensure the safest festival possible.”
Tragically, this is the second year in a row an attendee has died at the festival. Last year, a 32-year-old man was found dead in his car, later reported as an overdose. In 2015, a 45-year-old man with heart issues died at the festival.
Gojira and Deafheaven were among the performers at this year's event.
