AC/DC Back To "Classic Lineup," New Album Contains Malcolm Young Surprises

So said Twisted Sister vocalist Dee Snider.

ACDC-2014

Rumors of a new AC/DC record just won't stop. The rumors include bassist Cliff Williams being involved with the new album, vocalist Brian Johnson being back, and AC/DC being completely done recording a new album supposedly due out in March. Paparazzi photos were taken outside Vancouver's Warehouse Studio where AC/DC recorded their last album, so new material was almost definitely in the works (or at least rehearsals for a tour). There was also supposedly a world tour being announced in 2o19, but that never surfaced.

Twisted Sister vocalist Dee Snider recently spoke to SiriusXM's Trunk Nation to confirm a good portion of the rumors. Snider said the band's "classic" lineup is back and that the new album features some "surprises" from the now-deceased rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young.

"I had dinner with Brian recently, and we talked about [the band's return to activity]. He told me a lot of stuff, and a lot of stuff that I don't wanna say. But we know from the photos, and Brian confirmed it, they've been in the studio, they've been recording. The original — I don't say the 'original' guys, because a lot of 'em are gone, but I say the 'classic' lineup is back together and there are some surprises, which I can't talk about, regarding Malcolm Young that just had my jaw on the floor. I will say he will be present. So this is AC/DC as we know and love them."

If the rumors are true, AC/DC currently consists of Williams, Johnson, guitarist Angus Young, and maybe drummer Phil Rudd. Though if Snider said the "classic" lineup is back, I'd imagine Rudd is included. The new album also supposedly features backing guitar tracks from Malcolm Young, who passed away in 2017.
