The Word Alive and guitarist Zack Hansen have split over accusations of domestic abuse.
It all started on May 30 when Hansen simply stated he was stepping away from the band to handle some personal issues. At the time, Hansen wrote: "As of today — with respect to my family, friends and fans I will be stepping away from The Word Alive to handle some personal issues and to take the time necessary to focus on myself. I know in the long run this is what's best for me and TWA. I ask for your patience, understanding and privacy at this time. Thank you for all of the support."
Footage then surfaced of the alleged domestic abuse by Hansen on Twitter, though that video has since been limited to who can see it. The Word Alive addressed the situation on May 31, saying they had actually fired Hansen over the situation – not that he had chosen to step away.
"To The Word Alive family: As soon as we were made aware of the situation directed towards our guitarist, Zack, we immediately asked him to step away from the band. We do not condone any domestic abuse whatsoever."
As of now, The Word Alive is still slated to open for Asking Alexandria this September.
