Chimaira vocalist Mark Hunter was arrested yesterday in El Paso, Texas for possession of marijuana during a routine traffic stop. Due to this, he wasn't able to perform last night at the band's gig in San Antonio. The band's keyboardist and backup vocalist Sean Z, who also is the frontman for DAATH, filled in for him. Here is what he had to say about his arrest on Twitter:
“Out of the clink. Didn’t drop the soap. I deeply apologize to the fans of San Antonio. I was detained at the same spot they got Willie. You know I will make it up to you.”
This is also the first time I've noticed that DAATH guitarist Emil Werstler is also in Chimaira, where he plays bass. Emil responded to Mark's arrest on his Twitter, as well, saying that the San Antonio show would still go on:
“The show is still going on tonight, everyone. Ya’ll metal folks are like a bunch of cheerleaders with your knowledge of info.”
Backstage Live offered to give partial refunds to those who didn't want to attend, but I'm sure the show was still kickass! Mark will be performing tonight in Dallas, so no worries there.
