The older you get, the faster time flies. It's crazy to think that one year ago today, I woke up to the horrific news that one of the funniest and most prolific minds in heavy metal, Dave Brockie had passed away of, what ended up being, a drug overdose. It was an unforunate end to a man who had plenty of life left to live. Brockie and his alter-ego Oderus Urungus come up in my mind constantly. Whenever there is bullshit happening in the world, I wonder what would Oderus' take on the matter be.
GWAR, the band Brockie helped found, vowed to continue on, having found new vocalists in Blothar and Vulvatron and with Brockie's blessing. But the void that Oderus left can never be filled. Here are some of our favorite Oderus Urungus moments through time:
