Drummer Jason Roeder, who you know from Neurosis, Sleep, and Tribes Of Neurot, is auctioning off his Tama Granstar Custom Kit. All proceeds from the sale will go to Sonoma County North Bay Fire Relief Fund to help victims of the October 2017 North Bay wildfires. Roeder says he played the kit on Neurosis' 1992 album Souls At Zero, 1993's Enemy Of The Sun, 1996's Through Silver In Blood, 1999's Times Of Grace, 2000's Sovereign, and on the Team Fortress 2 main theme song in 2007.
You can read a little bit more about the kit below and get bidding here! As an added bonus for the winner, Roeder says he'll throw in a CD or vinyl copy of every Neurosis album this kit was on. Just in case you needed the added incentive.
1) 1992 Tama PM326 Power Metal brass snare, 6.5"x14"
This drum is "functional" but full disclosure – it needs work. Several of the tube lug casings are cracked or broken and therefore tuning the drum is a challenge. One generic lug casing was added to limp the drum along. The shell, hoops and throw-off are all functional but cosmetically rough (see pics). There is a patina on the shell that could not be duplicated by any "distressing" techniques. With new hardware (maybe off another snare of this era) this drum would really sing again. Lug mount hole spacing is approx 1-15/16". Includes original hang tag and Anvil fibre snare case.2) 1989 Tama GCB24X Granstar Custom 8-ply Japanese birch bass drum in "Piano Black" lacquer finish, 16"x24"
Drum is functional and sounds great but has many rough spots in the finish. (does not affect sound) At one time there was a protective patch applied to the shell to keep damage minimal (results were mixed). The spurs for the bass drum work just fine, but one rubber foot is missing (I always used carpets with cleats)3) 1989 Tama GCT14X Granstar Custom 8-ply Japanese birch rack tom in "Piano Black" lacquer finish, 13"x14"
Like the bass drum, this tom is fully functional and sounds great but has many rough spots in the finish. Includes 12mm tom mount.4) 1989 Tama GCF18R Granstar Custom 8-ply Japanese birch floor tom in "Piano Black" lacquer finish, 16"x18"
Like the other drums, this floor tom is functional and sounds great but has some rough spots in the finish. The DW leg mounts and 12mm replacement legs were cannibalized at some point. It will need at least two new mounts and a set of 12mm legs. The original Tama 10.5mm legs are included.5) EXTRAS: Tama Pro-Beat bass drum pedal. Tama MTH50 double tom holder (missing hex L-rods).
6) EXTRAS: Vinyl and/or CD recordings of each Neurosis release this kit was recorded with (listed above).
