Clown Wants SLIPKNOT's Next Record To Be A Two-Disc Concept Album

In today's issue of Slipknot: What The Hell Is Going On?, , we take a look at the recent comments from percussionist M. Shawn Crahan. Crahan seems to want to take the new record in a whole different direction and get pretty artsy. We're talking about a two-disc affair that's conceptual just like Pink Floyd's The Wall.

Of course, this comes off the heels of vocalist Corey Taylor thinking the band is going on hiatus for two years and guitarist Jim Root writing the record already. According to Crahan in a recent interview with the BBC-

"I've been on Jim [Root], and I'm just, like, 'Man, we've gotta write an art record. We've gotta write our 'Wall'… 'Sgt. Pepper's'… whatever you wanna say. And that's where I'm at. We've got so many records on our record deal. We've done five. I'd love it if we could do a double album, just… interludes… Have a concept, [and] maybe make a movie. I mean, things that have all been done, things that have all been done before, but… you know, our way, our interpretation. That would be a grand slam for the Clown. Don't get me wrong: we'd still do our thing. We're still gonna be Slipknot."

He also added that the record will happen "sooner rather than later" despite Taylor's comments, which is interesting.

"…but it's gonna happen sooner than later. It's just very exciting to see everybody excited."

Maybe the 2017 timeline is realistic. If the band writers while Taylor is off with Stone Sour and records the whole thing, all he's got to do is top the whole record off.
