We've been talking about a nu-metal revival for a while now, and if you as Dez Fafara, nu-metal never went away. In an interview with Metal Insider, the Coal Chamber frontman as well as drummer Mikey Cox talked a little bit about how nu metal went from this clandestine label to basically every band being called nu metal.
“Dez: No, I loved the term until other bands started to come in and I was like that band doesn’t fit in this genre. That was like us, Deftones, System, Korn, Static. Then other bands started to come in that we were like, “uh, no.” So that’s when I think it became, oh, c’mon man.
Mike: It was like any band that couldn’t be put in another category “let’s make them nu metal.” Then there were just way too many bands.
Dez: I think there’s a thirst for that music because people just want something different. That genre, that era, certainly gave you stuff that was different."
Alright, I can see that. Those guys essentially started what that genre was in the beginning and I totally get those labels. Then Fafara talks about Five Finger Death Punch.
"Dez: But yeah, getting back to nu-metal, I’m like dude, have you ever heard of Five Finger Death Punch? That’s about as nu metal as it gets too.”
Now don't think that Dez was trying to insult the band, he actually meant it as a compliment.
Don't take it out of context it was meant as a compliment saying many of those bands helped influence current acts https://t.co/aHZVhemYbk

So yeah. If you're a Five Finger Death Punch fan, you're into nu metal revival. I think. Perhaps nu-metal is just acessible metal or pop metal? What do you think?
