Converge released its new album The Dusk In Us last Friday, which has 13 awesome tracks on it. The band also released the EP I Can Tell You About Pain in July with the b-side "Eve," which means up to now we've gotten 14 new Converge songs. According to guitarist Kurt Ballou in an interview with Exclaim, we still haven't heard four more songs that were recorded during the sessions. Though they might surface sooner or later as an EP or a 7", or something else – Ballou isn't sure.
Ballou also reveals that coming up with the tracklist for The Dusk In Us was a bit of an internal struggle with the band. He says he feels like the band compromised on the songs that made the record, which is pretty surprising considering how ridiculously good The Dusk In Us ended up being.
"We all disagreed about what the strongest songs were, and which songs made for the best record. I think we're all equally unhappy with what ended up on the album. It was a compromise. Some of the songs on that album are actually some of the weakest ones that we recorded, and some of the ones that aren't on the album are the strongest. We're just not exactly sure how we're going to release them yet. Whether it's B-sides, or an EP, we don't know yet."
If you haven't picked up The Dusk In Us yet, you really do need to do that.
