Since the death of Scott Weiland and Linkin Park's Chester Bennington leaving, Stone Temple Pilots is currently piloted by no frontman.
Fortunately, the group is currently searching for someone to put on the cap and uniform via open auditions, which is a pretty cool way of a band that large to go about finding a new frontman.
“Hi everyone.
We wanted to once again thank all of those who took the time to submit. Thank you kindly.
Those of you that put forth your top 3 candidates and singer suggestions was a great help as well. Thank you for that.
With MANY hours clocked in behind the computer, the 3 of us have chosen and are auditioning some very talented people.
Auditions will start on April 18th.
We are thrilled to get in a room with each of these very talented individuals.
Let the good times roll.
Love,
Robert, Eric, Dean“
So it could be anyone, right? Yeah, and that even means that "anyone" could be Slipknot/Stone Sour vocalist Corey Taylor.
According to MetalSucks, the band will be performing with Taylor as its frontman at the Adopt the Arts Honors on May 12. This could also be Taylor's audition, considering he's a huge fan of the band and more than a capable vocalist. So we'll see – this could mean nothing more than Taylor simply filling in for the group while the search continues.
