Dave Grohl, stop being so cool.
Today, news comes that Grohl is directing and possibly starring in a new show for HBO. Grohl, who previously directed the excellent Sound City documentary and a Soundgarden video, will be teaming up with author Paul Brannigan to travel the country to document eight historic recording studios.
AV Club reports that two studios already included were Steve Albini’s Electrical Audio in Chicago and Inner Ear Studios in Washington D.C. According to a press release, studios in Austin, Nashville, Los Angeles, Seattle, New Orleans and New York are also on the list. Anyone care to guess what the historic studios in each town are?
Grohl is traveling with the rest of the Foo Fighters, who will be recording one song for their next album at each of these stops. The band would record for a few days and on the last day, Grohl would write the lyrics based on the experience in each town.
It's expected to be released in the fall.
Talk about a multi-tasker!
