DAVE NAVARRO Doesn't Have Much Faith JANE'S ADDICTION Will Play Again

"I am equally saddened by the fact that you will likely never hear it live."

Jane's Addiction 9202

Jane's Addiction has had one hell of a week. To recap, vocalist Perry Farrell assaulted guitarist Dave Navarro on stage in the middle of a show on September 13 at the Leader Bank Pavilion in Boston, MA. According to video footage, Farrell walked over to Navarro and aggressively bumped him with his shoulder, got up in Navarro's face right afterward, and even threw a punch before a roadie and Avery broke it up.

Jane's Addiction then issued an apology for the on-stage incident and cancelled their September 15 show in Bridgeport, CT. One day later, Jane's Addiction went on hiatus and cancelled the remainder of their tour dates. A statement from Jane's Addiction said the band "made the difficult decision to take some time away as a group," while a statement from Navarro, Perkins, and Avery cited "a continuing pattern of behavior and the mental health difficulties of our singer Perry Farrell."

Farrell issued his own statement shortly thereafter, saying in part it's "only right that I apologize to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, fans, family and friends for my actions during Friday's show. Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behavior, and I take full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation."

Then a few days after all that, a new song called "True Love" got released on all streaming services. Navarro has since commented on the single and the future of Jane's Addiction, lamenting the fact that it's likely they'll never play together again.

"New Jane's Addiction track released today, True Love," said Navarro. "I am proud of the work we did on this song but I am equally saddened by the fact that you will likely never hear it live. I’d also like to publicly apologize to our crew, Crawlers and their crew and to Love And Rockets and their crew. Thanks for being our travel companions for as long as you did. I am gutted that things ended this way and that so many jobs were lost as a result. May all of our hearts mend together."

So yeah, don't hold your breath for another Jane's Addiction reunion.
