Well, this is one not many of us saw coming. In a surprising turn of events, David Lee Roth has expressed his willingness to join Sammy Hagar on his upcoming "Best of All Worlds" tour, which will feature a setlist heavily focused on Van Halen material.
Hagar first extended the invitation to Roth and Alex Van Halen, the band's original drummer, during an appearance on SiriusXM's The Howard Stern Show. "It's time. Nobody else is gonna do it. If Dave Lee Roth goes out, he can't sing my stuff. But we can do a few of the early Van Halen songs. I have no problem with that; I did it when I was in Van Halen. This is really a celebration of all that, and we are the only ones who can do it."
"We're gonna invite every musician in every town. If Alex Van Halen wants to jump up, if David Lee Roth wants to come out and join us, come on, motherfucker. You are welcome. This is about Van Halen." Hagar added.
Now, In a new statement provided to Van Halen News Desk Roth replied to Hagar's invitation in a few words: "I'm ready to go. Let's do this."
Roth's involvement in the tour would mark a significant reunion between the two former Van Halen frontmen, who have had a tumultuous relationship over the years. If all goes well, we could witness a Van Halen reunion of sorts, and that would be a truly momentous occasion, but keep your expectations in check.
