Disturbed vocalist David Draiman recently posted a photo of himself and the band in the studio, prompting everyone to get excited (or pre-irritated depending on your opinion on the band) about new Disturbed coming soon. Except that ain't happening.
Disturbed guitarist Dan Donegan took to Instagram Live to let everyone know that yes, the band was in the studio; and no, there's zero concrete plans to wrap up new material and get it out into the world anytime soon.
"[We're] kind of working on some material," said Donegan. "I can't really say. There's no timeframe. I know there was a post earlier of us in the studio and that was just us kind of getting the ball rolling. No planned date, so sorry to burst your bubble. I'm not prematurely getting you too excited about it other than we have some downtime, so it was fun to get together and get creative for a moment.
"Things went amazing, but we're not planning on any release any time soon. It was just an opportunity to get in a room and get creative again. So [I'm] very, very excited about what we're coming up with, but there's not gonna be a release this year, let me be clear on that."
This all backs up Donegan's comments in an April interview with Australia's Everblack podcast that there were no plans for a new Disturbed album yet… but at least we can all get excited about a potential Sickness celebration, right?
"[No plans for a new album] yet," said Donegan. "We're loosely talking about it. Right now, this whole past year up to now, it's all been touring mode. That's all we've been focused on, is the tour. But you know, we're thinking about what we're going to do.
"We got big things to think about, on if we're going to do a 25th anniversary tour [for The Sickness] next year, and if we do a new album, are we going to record it this year or the following year? So we got a lot on our plate. We got a lot to just sort out and prioritize what we want to do first."
