Before we get to today's layer of the Morbid Angel saga, let's take you back to the summer of 2015, when Morbid Angel fell apart.
It started when guitarist Trey Azagthoth announced he and former vocalist Steve Tucker would begin working on new Morbid Angel tunes. Shortly after Tim Yeung announced he was leaving the band for "financial reasons." This was all news to David Vincent who declared he's aware of the new project but he's still the frontman of Morbid Angel. That seemed really funny to returning vocalist Steve Tucker. Eventually, Vincent exited gracefully.
Last week, David Vincent announced he and former Morbid Angel drummer Tim Yeung would be performing under the moniker "I Am Morbid," playing classic Morbid Angel tunes at a festival in Spain.
For some reason, this didn't sit well with guitarist Trey Azagthoth's mother. So much so, that she decided to leave a comment on the event page for one of the shows. Her comment reads:
David, What in the world are you doing? I see your still riding on Trey coat tail..Good luck thinking you will succeed by using not only Morbid Angels music (careful nothing you do totally belongs to Trey..if so you need to pay for each song used.) And as far as using the Logo (which Trey owns) and a new logo that is just the same that has been used before….all you did was change the color. Get you own band together and leave Morbid Angel out of it …..Is that just too much to ask?….PS: Why nothing in English …..not everyone knows Spanish
Janell Fulghum Emmanuel
Maybe the poster was in Spanish because the show is in Spain?
What kind of relationship do Trey and his mom, and Trey's mom and David Vincent have for that matter, that she feels so comfortable commenting on this? Will there be more drama? Find out next time on As The Morbid Angels…
