As you may have heard by now, Internet group Anonymous has joined the fight against ISIS. There were numerous reports over the weekend that the hacker collective had gathered information on targets the terrorist organization may target next, one of which was an upcoming Five Finger Death Punch show in Milan, Italy. The show was to take place on November 22 with Papa Roach and Devil You Know, though it was cancelled.
Here's the full list of potential targets, as published by the International Business Times.
- Multiple venues in the French capital,
- A WWE Survivor Series event in the Philips Arena in Atlanta,
- A Five Finger Death Punch gig in Milan,
- University Pastoral Day in Lebanon,
- The Al-Jihad, One Day One Juz in Indonesia, and
- The global Catholic Church celebrations of Feast of Christ the King.
Since that list was published, Five Finger Death Punch has taken to Facebook to issue a statement regarding the postponement of the show.
As some of you may be aware, there were many rumors today that the Milan show on Sunday, November 22nd will be targeted in a next wave of terror attacks like we saw in Paris last week. We did our best in a very short amount of time to work with the local promoter and authorities to ensure that security would be adequate. Unfortunately, we did not receive confirmation in time to satisfy our requirements and to ensure that our fans would be safe at the event. Therefore, we were forced to postpone the show to a later date. Please stay tuned for more info.
As did Papa Roach, also via Facebook.
We have had many reports all day that our show in Milan tomorrow, Sunday 22 November, will be targeted in a next wave of terror attacks. It is with heavy heart that we are forced to cancel this show to a later date. The safety of our fans, crew and bands are important to us. We will announce more information as soon as we are able to.
Ultimately, some of these events, like WWE's Survivor Series went on without a hitch. At the same time, you cannot fault the artists for making their safety, and the safety of their crew and fans their top priority.
