Kiss frontman Gene Simmons has extended an invitation to former guitarist Ace Frehley to rejoin the band for some songs on their upcoming farewell tour. "The invitations still stand. Jump up on stage with us for encores. The fans would love it," said Simmons in a tweet directed at Frehley. Frehley was originally in Kiss between 1973 and 1982, and again between 1996 and 2002.
Frehley said in a 2019 interview (via Blabbermouth) that he would be down to play with Kiss again for the right price.
"It would be nice to go back out again with them. But it's not my call. I think we have a really good relationship now. I text Paul back and forth and we've worked together, as I have with Gene. I would seriously consider it, but the money would have to be right. I'm not gonna take Tommy Thayer's salary. It would certainly sell more tickets with me involved. I have a gut feeling it will happen."
In a 2017 interview, Kiss guitarist Paul Stanley said he and Frehley are still good friends, but Frehley will not be coming back to Kiss. Granted this is now five years ago and people's opinions change, so take that for what it's worth.
"No. And that’s not coming from any place of animosity. I sang on Ace’s most recent album and did a video with him. I have the connection and the reconnection and to celebrate the good things we’ve done together is terrific. The band as it is—I’ve played with Eric Singer for I think 25 years and Tommy’s been in the band probably 15 years at this point. I have no thoughts of re-visiting the past. With that said I am happy to enhance or do whatever i can for anyone who has helped put me where I am, but that doesn’t include getting hitched again to somebody I unhitched from."
