He Is Legend is working on the follow-up to their 2022 record Endless Hallway and they're not sure how (or where) they'll release it just yet. According to He Is Legend vocalist Schuylar Croom on Threads, the band's deal with Spinefarm Records is over and they're exploring new options.
Croom mentions one possibility being either a Patreon or crowdfunding campaign, citing the success of He Is Legend's campaign around their 2017 album few. For those who don't remember, He Is Legend raised about $71,894 for the record when they were only seeking $56,000. So y'know, pretty damn good.
"The world feels really open right now. Endless Hallway was our last option on our current record label. This feeling of being an independent artist isn't new. We have always felt like an underground band. For so long this has just been the way, 'if you want your record to be accepted worldwide you must have a record labels reach'. Well we know that now to be false don't we? Still doesn't make this uncertainty a little uneasy for me. What do we do now?
"It's still business as usual here though. We will start writing soon. Spending our winter on the beach, gathering all of the necessary supplies to build a fire, then a camp. The music is always in its final form before we go into the studio. That part will not change. The next part is what seems exciting. How are we going to put this out? Do we talk to new labels? Do we go to band camp? Do we start a Patreon or something? Those who were with us back then know how wild the crowdfunding of FEW was."
