Jon Schaffer of Iced Earth is a legend in his own right, being the mastermind behind the band for all these years. Now he's talking about yet another one.
So in an interview with Metal Assault, Schaffer said:
We're writing the new album now, and this summer we have a bunch of festivals in Europe booked so we'll be tracking the new record in between the gigs that we'll be playing. Our world tour is starting in January. We've already announced the European leg. So we're not taking any time off, man. We're recording and hitting the road again soon. It's going to be great.
Sick! I'm especially stoked since their last record, Dystopia, was so damn good. It had all the classic Iced Earth elements you've come to expect from the band over the years, but with a lot of new stuff. It also had Stu Block vocals from Into Eternity, who can simply be described as "the man" when it comes to vocals. I mean really, who the hell else can nail vocals like that? Block is a legend. Here's to some new Iced Earth! Which, yes, Schaffer has said will be called Plagues of Babylon, though he didn't say when he expects to get it out to the world.
