Emperor vocalist Ihsahn and Trivium vocalist Matt Heafy have been talking about doing a black metal record together for quite some time now. According to Ihsahn in an interview with MAD TV Greece, he and Heafy have been trading files and have largely composed all the songs for the record. Ihsahn adds that the most difficult part right now is just finding the time to work together to get the record done.
Ihsahn also lets slip that Trivium are working on a new album.
"It's still in the works. Me and Matt started talking about this back in, I think, in 2012. And now it seems it's finally coming together. We're sending files and stuff back and forth. All the songs are more or less there. But there are also label things, there are timelines. There's a new Trivium record coming. Stuff like that. It will definitely get there."
Earlier this year, Heafy revealed that his solo black metal project Mrityu is being produced by Ihsahn.
"Now, Ihsahn is producing my black metal project. He's co-written several songs – we're finally kind of piecing that together, we've got eight or nine songs written on it. He's producing the whole thing, co-writing some of it. I'm going to try to get a hero of mine in black metal on every single song. So, Ihshahn's going to do some vocals, Nergal's going to do a song; Gaahl, I think, is about to do a song, hit up some other people."
