JONATHAN DAVIS Isn't Interested In Performing "Daddy" Live Again

For obvious reasons.

Korn's emotionally-charged 1994 track "Daddy" has hardly been a staple of the band's live shows over the years, and for good reason – it's a really tough song to get through. "Daddy" details vocalist Jonathan Davis being molested as a child and then not being believed, and was hardly performed around the time of its release. Then finally in 2015, Korn played the song every night of their self-titled album 20th anniversary tour.

So would they ever do it again? In an interview with Metal Hammer, Davis says absolutely not. And again, who could blame the guy? Going through that experience night after night has to be horrible.

"I felt like I robbed the world of doing that live for so long. I felt like I owed it to our fans that were hardcore enough to come and see us on the 20th anniversary of that album, but I don't wanna do it again.

"Going out and touring that record, I realized how dark it is – it's some depressing shit. As we got into Follow The Leader, it became more about groove. The emotion was there, but it wasn't that particular darkness we captured on that first record."

Prior to performing the song in 2015, Davis said in an interview with Alternative Press he wanted to perform the song to give fans something special.

"It’s been 20 years. I’ve come to grips with what’s happened to me, and everything else. You know what? Fuck it. I’m gonna play it. Yeah, it is what it is, but I’m a lot more mature than I was when I was back doing that record in the beginning. I need to do it for the fans, too. It’s going to be a bit bittersweet because, for one, it was our first record. We had a blast making it and we were on top of the world. The bitter part of it; We were all so fucked up.

"I think what it will do is remind us of how fucked up we were, but also remind us how much fun we had. I think it’ll be really special for all the fans who were there in 1994 and bought that album and listened to it young, and have listened to that record for 20 years. It’s going to be really special, because some of those songs have never been played live. 'Daddy' has only been played live twice, and some others never, so I think it’ll be pretty cool."
