KISS recently had to postpone their tour of Australia and New Zealand because frontman Paul Stanley had come down with the flu. But there was one commitment that KISS was not able to postpone. The band setup a performance on a boat off the coast of Port Lincoln in support of the Australian Marine Conservation Society.
The show was a promotion through AirBNB, and the idea was that sharks would show up because they “love the low-frequency sounds of rock and roll”.
So, the band trekked to the coast of Australia to perform without Paul Stanley, because they didn't want to let the sharks down.
Except, no sharks showed up.
Australia’s ABC Eyre Peninsula reports “The guys were tight, they were right into it, it was loud, there were lights, there were smoke machines,” said the event’s host, Matt Waller. “It was everything that a KISS concert should be.”
Simmons was very impressed with the setting, at one point saying “Guys, this is probably the most interesting gig I’ve ever done. I’d want my own autograph after this.”
