UPADTE May 5th, 2017: After this news surfaced, a new report from Billboard shoots down the rumors saying there is no deal in place currently and Plant was likely teasing a new solo album. Here's the full report. Original story follows:
Much like Guns N' Roses, we've been told for years that a Led Zeppelin reunion would never happen. Guitarist Jimmy Page has always been down to get back together, but vocalist Robert Plant has almost always said no. Much like Guns N' Roses, there's an unspecified and likely ungodly amount of money in it for the guys to reunite, so it might actually happen!
According to Feel Numb, there's over $14 million dollars in it for the band for a reunion at the Desert Trip Festival in California, and it could happen.
I have some well placed sources in the industry telling me that Robert Plant has agreed to reunite Led Zeppelin for Desert Trip 2017. Â Rumor has it they turned down a reported $14 million dollar pay day to play at last years festival and that this year there are "millions & millions" of more reasons why they should do it.
Oh, and Robert Plant's website looks like this currently, only fueling the rumors further.
So yeah, all the signs are there! It's worth noting Led Zeppelin reunited once before in 2007 for the Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert at the O2 Arena in London. At that time, it was rumored that Page, Plant, bassist John Paul Jones, and drummer Jason Bonham were working on new music, but that ultimately fell through… so maybe this time around?
