Into Eternity is a name that never really comes up anymore and that bums me right the fuck out. Vocalist Stu Block had sort of joined Iced Earth a while back and then in 2013 officially announced his departure to join Iced Earth full time. The group is now joined by singer Amanda Kiernan, but it seemed like after Block's departure fans hopes of ever getting a new record were completely destroyed.
The last time we got any studio output from Into Eternity was in 2008 via The Incurable Tragedy. That record was a "love it or hate it" kind of deal with a lot of fans, but for me it was part of the soundtrack to college. So it holds a special place in my heart, as does this band.
Now for the news- guitarist Tim Roth spilled the beans about a new record to LeaderPost.com.
YOU GUYS.
“We won a $10,000 grant from Rawlco Radio,” Roth explains, “so we went into the studio and it’s been a long, long process. We managed to get a bunch of guest appearances on the album and we’re really excited about that.
“Being in the studio is never easy. It’s like being under a microscope the entire time. It went really smoothly with our drummer, Bryan Newberry, who bashed out his tracks in no time. Our singer, Amanda Kiernan, was going through a breakup at the time and it unleashed all of this emotion into her vocals. In a couple of the ballads that we have, her vocals are just tear jerking. It’s going to be a real emotional album for sure.
“We think when the album is ready it’s going to be an epic journey with epic bass and lots of shredding and also brilliant orchestration, acoustics and vocal harmonies that go with the death vocals that we do. It’s going to be awesome.”
Guests? New vocalist doing studio stuff? New Into motherfucking Eternity? I am stoked. Apparently the band has an announcement coming very soon, so we'll be sure to keep you posted… and I'll try not to get too nostalgic again.
