You might recall how yesterday, Malevolent Creation announced they have fired their "gay drummer," Gus Rios. There was some confusion in our comments as to if Doug was actually gay, but he is not. He is married (to a woman). They were using the term to mean "lame" and not "homosexual" because they are classy.
The quick jab sparked some outrage, most eloquently documented by Thrash Hits pointing out how bands should "think about the fact that there could be a young gay metal fan out there who is being put off by their use."
I guess the band got the memo because they deleted their original post and instead posting a much longer diatribe first criticizing Rios for not recording his drums "live," rather choosing to edit everything together on the computer.
Then, they offered a lengthy reasoning as to why they labeled him "gay" which is mind numbing:
As for the "Gay" comment i made about Gus i apologize,it is hard for me to refer to him as anything else but the nickname he has had long before i ever met him which is "Gay Gus"!Anyone that knows him or has met him refers to him by that name.If he is gay,i do not know personally, but it has crossed my mind many times over the years i have known him.Only he knows the truth and whoever gave him the nickname surely does. I have gay family members and friends and that has never been a problem for me,so i do apologize for making the comment and to the people that found it offending.
The only proper reaction after reading that:
