Aver – Orbis Majora THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH, ARCH ENEMY, and More Out Today – 1/18

Genre: Psychedelic rock
Origin: Sydney, Australia
Label: Ripple Music

If you're looking to get spacey and weird then this is the album for you this week. This album consists of five lengthy experimental tracks that will completely consume you. If you're into bands like Astra and Kikagaku Moyo, then this will be another band for you to enjoy while very high.

A Pale Horse Named Death – When The World Becomes UndoneTHE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH, ARCH ENEMY, and More Out Today – 1/18

Genre: Doom/Gothic Metal
Origin: New York City, New York
Label: Long Branch Records)

It's been six long years since Sal Abruscato (ex-Type O Negative, ex-Life of Agony, etc) and his gang (which oddly enough also includes Johnny Kelly, the other former drummer of Type O) got sad and slow all over everyone. There is definitely the vibe of his most noted former band here, but I'm getting a lot of Alice In Chains here as well.

Arch Enemy – Covered In Blood THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH, ARCH ENEMY, and More Out Today – 1/18

Genre: melodic death metal
Origin: Halmstad, Sweden
Label: Century Media

Over Arch Enemy's almost twenty-five years, the band has covered a lot of artists. Like, a fuck ton. This album is a compilation of two dozen covers from their entire career. It features covers of Judas Priest, Carcass, Iron Maiden, Tears For Fears, Shitlickers, and more. It's pretty cool hearing all the band's vocalist on one release, so it also has that going for it.

Malevolent Creation – The 13th Beast THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH, ARCH ENEMY, and More Out Today – 1/18

Genre: Death metal
Origin: Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Label: Hammerheart Records

Fine. Here's some straight up death metal for you. This album sounds like all the rage of the Florida scene the band helped build with some modern flairs and production. I must say that it bothers me that The 13th Beast only has eleven songs. Couldn't whip out two more tracks and play into the theme a lil more guys?

Papa Roach – Who Do You Trust? THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH, ARCH ENEMY, and More Out Today – 1/18

Genre: Alternative rock
Origin: Vacaville, California
Label: Eleven Seven Music

You mad I'm talking about this? I'm supposed to talk about new releases in the metal and hard rock scene, so this technically falls into that. It's certainly something though. This might have worked like fifteen years ago, it feels so weird now. Then again, nu metal is making a comeback, so this might go well for them. I live near Sacramento (which has adopted the band despite them being from a few towns over), and people here still shit themselves over their hometown boys. So this mention is for them I guess.

The Crown Remnant – The Wicked King: Part IITHE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH, ARCH ENEMY, and More Out Today – 1/18

Genre: Groove metal/melodic death metal
Origin: Los Angeles, California
Label: Self-released

Let's end this week with something cool. This album is a rather diverse offering that is based in melodic death metal but has moments of groove metal, metalcore, and more. This is part two of a two-part concept album that began in December 2017 with The Wicked King: Part I. So it also has a big, fun story to it which I am all about.
