If you're ever in need of surgery, make sure you give your surgeon a playlist of only AC/DC.
According to a new study published in Archives Of Surgery (and summarized by The Sun), listening to loud music nearly doubled surgeon's speed while maintaining their precision. The study shows that surgeons listening to AC/DC's "Highway To Hell" and "T.N.T." dropped their cutting time from 236 seconds to 139, while boosting their accuracy around 5%. The study also showed that doctors stitched wounds around 50% faster while listening to "Hey Jude" and "Let It Be" by The Beatles.
"Our results show that both soft rock and hard rock can enhance surgical performance," said lead researcher Cui Yang from Heidelberg University, Germany.
"For hard rock music, the positive effect was especially noticeable when the music was played in high volume. It is possible that music with high rhythmicity could provide a tempo to keep up the speed of the performance and thus enhance task performance."
So there you have it – rock music can help someone save your life (in a roundabout sort of way).
