I think 3D printers are cool as hell. I've seen people printing gears for machines, full body scans of themselves for some reason and… guitar pickups?
Gear Gods reports that two Polish musicians, Rob Klaczynski and Martin Kubacki, have used the printer to print out a guitar pickup. Obviously they didn't just up and print a pickup, drop it into the guitar and shred along their merry way- there's assembly required. That being said, if you have the time and access to one of the printers, here's the blueprints on how to do it.
So how does it sound? Well, this first video is kind of deceiving because initially it doesn't sound too great, but…

When they cover some Bad Religion with it, it seems like they have it all figured out because it sounds way better! here's to hoping we start 3-D printing guitars next… and then amps, and then entire bands for us to pick apart on the Internet.
