Well, Metallica's contest for a local band to open up five of its dates on its upcoming tour with Volbeat, Avenged Sevenfold, and Gojira, and it's Local H! According to Local H's website, the band has been around since 1990 and has quite a few releases under its belt. Dudes sound pretty good too, like a stripped down, rock-esque version of Metallica. But to call Local-H a "local band" is quite a stretch.
I thought the point of this was to bring attention to some brand new local band? It's awesome Local H won, but it's not like they're completely unknown – they had a hit called "Bound For The Floor" in 1997 that landed in the Top 5 of the US Alternative Billboard Chart and an album that's been certified gold. They were on a major label too, Island Records.
Check out the band's music below, and the following dates are the ones Local H will be opening.
05/19 Foxborough, MA – Gillette Stadium (feat. Volbeat)
06/04 St. Louis, MO – Busch Stadium (feat. Volbeat)
06/14 San Antonio, TX – Alamodome (feat. Avenged Sevenfold)
06/16 Dallas, TX – AT&T Stadium (feat. Avenged Sevenfold)
06/18 Chicago, IL – Soldier Field (feat. Avenged Sevenfold)
