Metallica have been talking about hitting the studio for a while now and have even given us silly updates on the new album because we as music journalists are pests.
Now we know there's been some progress given the band said they're going to play a new song this weekend at a show in Bogota, Columbia. Hell yeah! The above picture was taken from their Facebook and depicts the band "working out some kinks in a new song." Expect a thousand fan-filmed YouTube videos of the new jam, approximately two of which will be listenable.
At the very least I'm curious to see how the new song compares to what they've done. Is it going to be another long-winded thrashterpiece like most of the jams on Death Magnetic were? Will they go back to being a radio-type band ala the black abum? Or will we see an entirely new side of the band?
One thing is for sure, on Monday morning all of us will have a new Metallica song to criticize.
