Yesterday, Greg posted that Misery Signals may have been teasing about original vocalist Jesse Zaraska rejoining the band after a 10 year hiatus. Well, guess what? It's true.
I reached out to Jesse via Facebook, where he confirmed rejoining the band as a permanent member. Here's what he had to say:
"It is the truth, sir. We are in the midst of writing new material together and will be playing some show over the coming year. It has been very cool thus far. We will definitely be doing a proper US tour in 2017."
In 2014, Misery Signals reunited with Jesse for Of Malice And Magnum Heart's 10 Year Anniversary Tour, where he rejoined the band to perform their debut album in full during select U.S. and Canadian dates. Everyone originally thought that then-vocalist Karl Schubach would link back up with the group after the tour, but that doesn't appear to be the case.
Jesse quit the band in 2006 to play bass in the indie rock band Sleeping Girl. Misery Signals quickly found their new vocalist, Karl Schubach, after fans were given the chance to download several instrumental tracks on Myspace in order to record their own covers and audition.
While Schubach performed vocals on the last three Misery Signals albums and is perhaps more recognized as the band's vocalist, it was the debut, Of Malice, that proved most pivotal to me as a 15-year-old kid growing up in rural Texas.
I, for one, cannot fucking wait for new music. And that tour.
