Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx offered an update on frontman Vince Neil's condition after Neil's nasty fall offstage last week that resulted in a few broken ribs. Sixx says Neil is "on the mend."
Neil broke "a few ribs" after falling off the stage during a solo performance on October 15th at the Monster on the Mountain festival in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Neil was hurt enough to go to the hospital for X-rays and a member of his solo band announced to the crowd that he might have suffered a broken rib. TMZ noted "there was a small gap between the speaker and the stage that Vince didn't see and he fell through the crevice onto the floor."
After the fall, bassist Dana Strum tells the crowd "The truth is Vince fell and broke ribs when he fell. He can't breathe and he's gonna get dealt with medically. He was so excited to be here. He lives in Tennessee. But he was willing to stick it out and tough it out when the people back here were telling him 'Don't do it.' Let's have one good round of applause, please, for this guy."
In a new interview with Billboard, Sixx blamed the fall on the crew not putting reflective tape on the stage to indicate the end of the stage.
"Without that, it's all completely black, so you can walk forward thinking there's still stage there and fall off," Sixx explained. "I've done that myself. Vince and I were laughing about one time we both fell off the stage at the same show. But he was really lucky. He said if it wasn't a song that he was playing rhythm guitar on it could've been his head, which would've been a worse injury. The guitar broke his fall. But he'll heal up and we'll be ready to go on tour [with Motley Crue] in June."
Neil recently revealed he was working hard getting into shape for the big Crue reunion tour next year.
Neil has revealed he's getting into shape with the help of Emsculpt Neo®, which describes itself as “a revolutionary non-invasive fat burning and muscle building device that helps trim, strengthen, define, lift and tone your body with incredible ease,” combining “ high-intensity focused electromagnetic energy with radiofrequency (RF) energy to build muscle and reduce fat simultaneously,”
The marketing for the machine says you “can help you achieve your dream body without sacrificing your lifestyle — because who has time to spend hours at the gym?”. Certainly, not Vince Neil. Watch the footage of the machine in action here.
