Slipknot parted ways with drummer Jay Weinberg earlier this month and rumors of who his replacement might be started flying immediately. One persistent rumor is that drummer Jeramie Kling, who recently quit Venom Inc. and currently plays in The Absence, is Slipknot's new drummer thanks to some goofing around on Instagram – most recently a hashtag #im666.
So is Kling the new drummer for Slipknot? Not according to Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor, who has addressed the issue on X (formerly Twitter) saying: "To everyone wondering about our new drummer… It's not him. Stop letting him troll you. He's not even on the list. #hesnot666" So there you have it – Kling-knot ain't happening.
It's worth mentioning that Slipknot has two shows coming up – April 27 at Sick New World and May 12 at Welcome To Rockville. So Slipknot has plenty of time to find someone new, break 'em in, and get prepared to hit the stage. And that's assuming that they haven't already quietly hired someone and are in the process of putting together an announcement. Who knows what goes on behind the collective mask that is Slipknot.
Slipknot suddenly parted ways with Weinberg on November 5, saying they had "decided to make a creative decision, and to part ways with Jay" with no further explanation. Weinberg has since issued his own statement, saying the firing was a total shock but that he'll continue on making music in a different capacity.
