Ovid's Withering are a band worth knowing if you like metal that can be classified as "good," "ridiculously metal," and "powerfully orchestral."

So here's how this works; "Grothis, The Insatiable" is off the band's upcoming Terraphage EP, which is supplementary to their debut full-length that'll be out sometime this year. The band describes it like this:
The story behind Terraphage (our EP) will be an ongoing tale stemming from our full-length. Basically, it is our concept behind the death of Greek mythology, and the birth of our own mythology.. which will continue on through the next full-length album. We took a big chance releasing something off the EP, because we know its very different from our full-length…but be advised, each song on Terraphage will have a very different feel, reflecting the new Ovidian god that each song represents. Grothis was our first. Hopefully that helps explain to those who were asking! Please feel free to ask if you are curious about any other aspects of it.
So before you get to bitchin' about "this is breakdownz lol not metal," remember that this isn't exactly what the band are going for. Check out their Bandcamp if you're looking to get a solid idea of what the band are up to! Trust me, you won't be disappointed. Here's to more badass metal in 2013!
