Revolver and Metal Hammer paying tribute to Dimebag Darrell on the 5 year anniversary of his death

revolverpanteraDecember 8th marks the 5 year anniversary of the death of one of metal's true icons, Dimebag Darrell. Both Revolver and Metal Hammer are cashing in paying tribute to Dimebag's life with commemorative issues.

Revolver will release a special "Vulgar Display Of Power" issue (on newsstands December 22nd). It will include original artwork from Tim Bradstreet (The Punisher, Hellblazer, "Vampire: The Masquerade") and interviews with all surviving PANTERA band members (Phil Anselmo, Vinnie Paul, Rex Brown); Dime's longtime girlfriend Rita Haney; album producer Terry Date; musicians Rob Halford, Rob Zombie, Sean Yseult, Scott Ian, Zakk Wylde, Nick Bowcott; and other key friends and associates. So basically, this will be a whole other outlet for the he said-she said between the Phil camp and the Vinne Paul/Rita camp. But still, I'm sure there will be cool moments in this issue and I'm interested to see some of the illustrations.

Metal Hammer, one week prior, will release their 200th issue, which will include a special CD compilation feautring other metal acts paying tribute to PANTERA by covering (in some cases butchering) some of your favorite songs. Featured on the compilation will be ZAKK WYLDE, MACHINE HEAD, AVENGED SEVENGOLD, UNEARTH, CHIMAIRA and others. Full tracklisting after the jump…
