Despite Black Sabbath having taken its final bow and drummer Bill Ward having been out of the picture for five years at this point, people are still really pissed off about the latter. Included in the group labeled "Pissed" is Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford, who says there's only one Black Sabbath, and it's the one with Bill Ward behind the kit. Speaking to Eddie Trunk, the Metal God said…
"There's only one Black Sabbath, it'd be a shame to see them go a thousand percent."
"Wouldn't [a tour with Ward back in the band be amazing]? Behind the scenes, everybody's hustling for the best position and it sometimes stumbles and gets in the way of what really is a wonderful personal family relationship these guys have had for 50 years.
"I, for one, would be there in the front row headbanging if ever there was a chance to see Bill Ward back in the band once again."
At this point, I think it's safe to assume that it could happen. Tony Iommi doesn't seem opposed to doing festival one-offs in the future, though the band's Facebook page appears to very clearly state that Sabbath is dead… but we've heard that before too.
I wonder how Mastodon's Brent Hinds feels about a member of Judas Priest having an opinion on a "metal band," given his comments yesterday? I kid, I kid… but seriously, Bill Ward and Black Sabbath needs to happen for a proper sendoff.
