Kristin Hayter, known as Lingua Ignota, published a sizable document on December 9 accusing her former boyfriend, Daughters vocalist Alexis Marshall, of sexual abuse, gaslighting, rape, and driving her to attempt suicide.
Now Marshall's label for his solo work Sargent House (who also has Lingua Ignota as a part of their roster) has published a statement saying they parted ways with Marshall back in August. Sargent House points out that August was when Hayter initially informed them of what was going on, but did not make the issue known in order to respect Hayter's privacy.
"We ceased working with Alexis Marshall back in August. We made no public statement at that time because we wanted to respect Kristin's privacy and her timeline for when she felt ready to come forward. She has now and we continue to stand in solidarity with her."
Hayter accuses Marshall of penetrating her without her consent and at one point injuring her to the point that she needed surgery for massive lumbar disc herniation. This resulted in a condition called Cauda Equina Syndrome, "which threatened permanent loss of bladder and bowel function." The gaslighting and abuse led her to attempt to take her own life.
Marshall has released a statement through his publicist denying the allegations saying "I absolutely did not engage in any form of abusive behavior towards Kristin. Kristin is a person that I loved and cared deeply for, however, our relationship was unhealthy for both of us. I can assure anyone reading this that I absolutely did not abuse her, mentally or physically. I am investigating legal options."
