SCAR SYMMETRY Midway Through Recording A New Album!

With the departure of guitarist Jonas Kjellgren in August, Scar Symmetry have been working and writing as a 5-piece. In that same breath from the band it was also announced their new record was written, but with no further details. Now they're coming out and saying there's some serious progress! YES!

The band took to Facebook later on Friday afternoon to post the above picture and the following caption:

"Guess what we're up to? We've just listened to all the songs from our next album, we're about midway through the recording sessions – the songs are turning out KILLER so far… Cheers'n'beers! /Per, Rob and Lars"

Oh I am so excited for this, though the real question is if the band will go with the more straightforward rock-meets-melodic-death-metal sound they've been easing into since vocalist Christian Alvestam's departure before Dark Matter Dimensions in 2010, or will it be their old-school Holographic Universe style? Either way is fine by me considering their music has been consistently good through their whole career. I'm also curious to see if guitarist Per Nilsson joining The Absence will have any bearing on his writing style! The possibilities are ENDLESS!
