A security guard just doing their job at Asking Alexandria's September 19 show at the Masonic Auditorium in Cleveland, OH sadly got severely injured. According to a statement from Asking Alexandria vocalist Danny Worsnop, the guard was trying to catch a crowdsurfer and ultimately suffered five broken ribs and a collapsed lung.
"Regrettably we had an injury at the show last night.
"Despite the heads up that you guys crowd surf… a LOT, the venue was a little unprepared and understaffed. During 'Let Go' one of the two security guards assigned to barricade fell while catching a fan, breaking 5 ribs and suffering a collapsed lung. We stopped the show and waited for an ambulance to come as two amazing EMT fans quickly jumped over from the crowd to provide medical assistance. Thank you to them and the whole crowd for responding quickly and efficiently in getting out of the way so he could be safely removed from the venue and on his way to the hospital.
"It’s always hard to see someone get hurt at a show and we’ll be checking on his status over the coming days. Wishing him a full and fast recovery."
Commentors on Worsnop's post were super polite about the whole situation, with one person saying "That was by far one of the worst things I have witnessed at a show (and I have been to A LOT of shows). He was a sweet guy that didn’t need this to happen to him. I am glad to know how he is doing and will be looking for your updates."
Another person said "I've been to many shows and I’ve never seen anything happen like that ever. The staff was definitely unprepared and I’m wishing him a speedy recovery."
