Selfgod, the project of Ukranian immigrant Serge Streltsov (ex-Automb, ex-Necrophagia), is publicly denouncing the violence against his home country today as Russian invades the Ukraine.
"It is very scary and sad whats happening in Ukraine. Russia has waged war for 8 years now," said Streltsov. "They have taken over my hometown Luhansk and now they fully invaded the whole country. My family are refugees because of this crisis.
"We have lost everything in Luhansk. My own mom witnessed people getting killed in front of her house by Russian forces on a daily basis until she luckily fled the war zone. Unfortunately not all my family members were able to leave. I'm here to tell the world that whats happening there is a threat to Europe and the rest of this planet."
Streltsov added in a separate Facebook post that "Apparently my albums sometimes come out during the dark times. Last one was at the beginning of the pandemic and now the same day as Russia declares full on war on Ukraine. WW3 might be around the corner. This albums is dedicated to Ukraine and the ones who are fighting for it. Perun is with you. Hope this album empowers those who really need it right now."
We've covered Selfgod's great music before and wish Streltsov's friends and family all the best. Selfgod just released their debut album Born Of Death featuring session drums by Scott Fuller (Morbid Angel, ex-Havok, ex-Abysmal Dawn). Born Of Death is available here in the US and here in Europe.
