Slash embarasses himself and more in your 2010 Grammy Recap [Metal Edition]

As each year passes, I find myself disconnected further and further away from what is considered mainstream music, and I am grateful for it. To say the Grammys this year were a complete drekfest would be like saying Gene Simmons is a giant shitstain. Everybody knows this already. But there were some vaguely metal occurrences. Let's recap shall we…

Let's start things off with Slash. He came out during a Jamie Foxx song. Then, he performed a butchered version of his famous solo from November Rain as Jamie Foxx, T-Pain and Doug E. Fresh vocally shat all over it. Take a gander:

Slash's cred is pretty much hanging by a thread at this point.

Rob Halford accepting for Judas Priest at Grammys 2010

In the too cool for not televised portion of the program, JUDAS PRIEST won Best Metal Performance for a LIVE TRACK called Dissident Aggressor which was originally recorded in 1977! So it's only taken them 33 years to come around to this hip new back known as Judas Priest. Here are the other nominees in this category…

LAMB OF GOD – "Set to Fail" (from "Wrath")
MEGADETH – "Head Crusher" (from "Endgame")
MINISTRY – "Señor Peligro" (from "Adios…")
SLAYER – "Hate Worldwide" (from "World Painted Blood")

In the Best Hard Rock performance, AC/DC unsurprisingly won as they were probably the only band Grammy voters recognized. Wait, Nickelback is nominated in this category, I guess the voters have some taste. Then again, METALLICA's awful awful Unforgiven III was placed in this category. Did nominators even listen to the song? It's a shame that Alice In Chains' Check My Brain didn't win because that was probably the catchiest riff of the year. Also, nominated in this category, Stinkin Linkin Park for a live track.

Besides the actual awards, there is always the fun of poking through the press photos on the red carpet and trying to find metal dudes. I'm no Joan Rivers but I did have to sift through quite a few awful photos of Lady Gaga to bring you these low-res gems all watermarked heavily just in case we forgot to credit the source (which we now won't):
