SLAYER still relevant according to the fine people at the Grammys

Nothing says "metal" like bringing your family to a night out at the Grammys. Thats what Slayer vocalist/bassist Tom Araya did Sunday night, and for good reason…his band won "Best Metal Performance" for the track "The Final Six." Not familiar, you say? Well, maybe that's because the track was a bonus track on a re-release of their new album. That's right. Slayer felt it wasn't good enough to make the first cut of the release, and was re-packaged as a bonus, but the people at the Grammys just ate it up.

I'm not going to lie, I haven't even heard this song. Luckily, a quick search brought up a sampling of this song. Nothing groundbreaking. It was not bad, it was definitely Slayer, but it wasn't SLAAAAYEERRR if you know what I mean. Something tells me, that the Grammy board just looked at the ballot and picked the only name they ever heard of. Apparently Grammy voters' grandsons never wear As I Lay Dying shirts. I SAID IT!

AS I LAY DYING – "Nothing Left"
KING DIAMOND – "Never Ending Hill"
MACHINE HEAD – "Aesthetics Of Hate"
SHADOWS FALL – "Redemption"
