Nobody knows who's actually in Sleep Token, which means that people are going around lying about being in Sleep Token. Naturally this has pissed off the actual members of Sleep Token, who have issued their folllowing statement on their Instagram stories:
"Followers, it has been brought to our attention that a number of unscrupulous individuals have been masquerading as members of the Sleep Token collective, in order to exploit members of our extended community," wrote the band.
"Let it be known that any unsolicited contact from ANY person claiming to be a member of the collective should be disregarded, and their profile reported to the relevant administration. We thank you for your understanding."
The pitfalls of anonymity seem to be just as great as their benefits. Sure, whoever heads up Sleep Token can be left completely alone in public without being bothered by fans and autograph seekers – dude just walks through the world unnoticed as much as anyone else. But then there's this side of it, where some grifty bastards decide to take advantage of the situation.
It's a little surprising Ghost hasn't had to issue any statement like this in recent years, right?
